ACTI-Mag Webinar Series

Mine and mineral processing water neutralisation and metal precipitation using ACTI-Mag

Michael Wheatland \ September 2, 2020

It could be due to sulphate soils leaching into a mine, or the mineral extraction process itself, but acidic water is very common in mine sites across the world.

In this presentation, Michael will demonstrate that acid mine water doesn’t need to be difficult or expensive problem to solve. Using ACTI-Mag, rapid, cost effective and long lasting neutralisation is easy.

Heavy metal precipitation for mine or process water recycling is also possible without sodium contamination or causing scale issues in pipes and pumps like when using lime.

ACTI-Mag for wastewater

ACTI-Mag is a concentrated and stabilised suspension of magnesium hydroxide also known as milk of magnesia, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)2. Highly fluid, ACTI-Mag has proven to flow easily in most dosing systems.

With a higher neutralising value per kilo when compared with caustic whilst being significantly safer to handle than other traditional alkalis, making it a very safe and cost competitive option.

Magnesium hydroxide as a substitute for caustic soda and lime

Magnesium hydroxide is the least expensive and most powerful alkaline chemical treatment available on the market for pH control applications.

Calix recognises that Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management must be integrated into all operations in our organisation. In light of the latest advice on corona virus, and the need to work more remotely, Calix has created a series of webinars so you can take advantage of Calix’s know-how without leaving your home or office!
